Safened sympathetically ensures people’s safety. Their office in Helmond required a transformation. The appearance of the building must match the hospitable philosophy of the company.

Safened’s office building was outdated, oversized and partially rented out. It represented that typical office architecture of the 1990s. The assignment was clear: make a translation of Safened’s story in the building from which they operate. So that it is immediately clear to both employees and visitors what the organization stands for.
The main shape of the building was compressed by demolishing the storey wing, so that an extra building plot was created to finance the renovation. Vertically placed light gray, profiled steel plates ensure the sturdy compact shape. Vertical alignment of the existing windows enhances the upright volume. A black, vault-like cube forms the entrance to the building. The round head of the building, a relic of its past, now creates the uniqueness of its simpler compressed form. The building thus tells a story of safety, security and humanity; exactly what makes resident Safened so special.
